Healthy Community Forum Takes on Scams, Fraud CINCINNATI (Aug. 28, 2017) – Panelists from several local organizations are coming together to teach vulnerable residents in the community about scams, identity theft and fraud. While everyone is at risk of falling victim to a scam, studies show that elderly individuals are the most likely to lose money to convincing con artists. However, they are the least likely group to report their loss, citing embarrassment, worry about their independence and ignorance of reporting processes as reasons for keeping quiet about their situation. To help reduce the stigma of getting scammed, the City of Mt. Healthy will host a free Scams and Identity Theft Community Forum featuring guest speakers from BBB Cincinnati, Ohio Consumers Counsel and ProSeniors on Monday, Sept. 11 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Mt. Healthy Community Center. The event is open to senior citizens, disabled residents, caregivers and members of the Mt. Healthy, Springfield Township, Colerain Township and North College Hill communities. The forum will include a free breakfast, a lively panel discussion and an interactive question-and-answer session with local law enforcement and the attending panelists. Doors will open at the Community Center – located at 1541 Hill St., Mt. Healthy, OH 45231 – at 8:30 a.m. Interested parties are encouraged to make a reservation with Debbie Robben at 513-455-0855.
